Kilian Bartholomé

Fraunhofer Institute IPM, Germany

Kilian Bartholomé received his doctoral degree in physics from the University of Freiburg, Germany, in 2008. He joined Fraunhofer IPM in 2009 as a research scientist and has been leading the research group "Caloric Systems" since 2015. His work focuses on the system-level development of solid-state cooling technologies, particularly in the field of electrocalorics, elastocalorics, and magnetocalorics. A central aspect of his research is the implementation of heat pipe-based architectures to achieve high power densities in caloric systems, aiming to make them cost-effective and competitive with conventional compressor-based cooling. He has coordinated several national research projects, including the Fraunhofer lead project ElKaWe, and is committed to advancing caloric technologies toward industrial application.
